Far, far too much to read

Well, since it is Memorial Day Weekend it means summer is officially here. The most exciting part of summer for me is Summer Reading Program! I haven't participated in one for years and this year I get to take part in two. I'm a resident of Virginia Beach and I work at a branch of the Chesapeake Library so I'll be taking part of the staff program.

The Chesapeake SRP is too simple for me. Adults read or listen to Books on Tape of one adult fiction or non-fiction book and get entered in a bi-weekly drawing. The expectation is six books for the summer. Now for parents I can understand this, very busy especially since the kids are home all the time and you need to keep them active. However, I'm gearing up for the Virginia Beach program to see how much reading I can cram into my summer like I used to as a kid.

VB SRP has eight category lists (Mystery, Western, Sci Fi, etc.). You can read a book from each list and write a review of it or read four books for each category and cross that genre off your list. I'm pushing for the four per category. I may have to write two reviews but I'm very excited about this and have several series that I've been meaning to tackle that will work for several of the lists. This is the last year I'll be doing this for a while since next summer I hope to be starting grad school (crossing fingers), so I've got to give it my all this year. I had planned to kick this blog off with a review of The Gates of Sleep by Mercedes Lackey since I was in the midst of it at the creation time of my blog, but now I think I'll wait until I have the SRP going. Hmm, wait Chesapeake's doesn't start until June 5th and VB isn't until the 9th. Well, I'll try to get some thoughts down before next week then.

For now, I feel the need for Something Positive. Let's see if Mr. Miholland has had time to update today.

Test

Testing....testing one, two. Testing one, two, three.

No, you don't count to three. You lift on three.
